monitor with ethernet connection

Why is it that we don't have any monitor which we can plug in to an ethernet jack, so that our pc remains somewhere but we can always move the monitor to any location.
I have found a reason, it's the bit rate 1280x1024x16(bits/pixel)x40(refresh rate/s) > 100Mbits/s
Is this the real reason, if yes can't we compress it(need another cpu?) or am I missing something.

:disgust:

Why stress your network when you can simply hook up a VGA cable?

Your effectively doing the same thing except there is no network strain.

I don't understand why you would want to put your monitor in a location where you wouldn't know what you were doing anyway. What purpose would a remote-located monitor serve? You certainly wouldn't be able to surf without a monitor, and if you were at the monitor and your pc were in the other room, you certainly wouldn't have a keyboard/mouse to control what the monitor was displaying...

why not try x window? it was written with network support in mind such that you can have a program run on one computer and have the output go to your computer
