Hey Guys,
im trying to find a IMAC type setup that has a CPU integrated into the Monitor.
i have seen some, but cant seem to find them online
anyone seen any of those ?

Here is my question... when you say CPU, do you mean the Central Processing Unit (processor) or, do you mean, as some people are wont to, the entire computer?

Brainon is right though, Dell, Gateway, Sony, AOpen, Apple they all have All-in-One systems that are what you are looking for.

Right now, I think that Apple is actually the cheapest considering what you get.

If someone would design a system with a range of 20-24" PMVA panels and come with the connectivity to use a proprietary mobo in both AMD and Intel flavors, a slot loading DVD drive, and support for 2.5" notebook drives, I'd pay for such a monitor in a heartbeat. Perhaps the only thing proprietary would be the MXM graphics modules. Though granted, if they could release those for resale then people could upgrade the modules.

Still, if one of the big guys offered such a barebones like ASUS, MSI, etc., then I think they would capture the majority of the SFF group.

Maybe I'm imagining it, but I remember seeing some kind of thin client system that mounted to the back of an LCD using the VESA holes.

Yep, here it is.

Now if there was only an option with a real CPU.

Yup, like the one on the cheap Intel D201GLY2 board. Couple that with a better IGP or with a notebook MXM module...

Not to tip my hand too much, but I've been mulling over a project along the lines of this for a while now. Only thing keeping me from building it is the cost of components and lack of an idea for the design. To me it would have to end up significantly different from an iMac, and right now I know I'd only end up cloning one.
