My parents bought a Sylvania F96 from Costco about a year ago or so. The color started doing funky stuff a couple weeks ago, it has a strong blue haze and lacks reds or something - not sure; it can't be fixed by messing with the color settings. Anyway, my parents did not keep the box OR the receipts!!! I coulda killed them, but whats done is done. They went out and bought another monitor, but I want to salvage this one to use as my second; how can I do so?? Sylvania won't take it back w/o the receipt, even though it has a 3 year warranty, can't really blame them though. Would Costco still take it back? I've heard many stories about how Costco takes ANYTHING back, so could I pull this off? If not I was thinking about buying the same monitor, and then just returning the broken one; they wouldn't be losing anything anyway, because we bought the real broken one from them anyway. Any other tips??

I've had good luck with costco - i've brought stuff back a year later with no receipt, but a box. But i've heard over in hot deals, many people have taken stuff back without either. Take the stuff or call your local costco - hopefully they arent a dick about it.

Give it a shot. The very worst that can happen is a rejection of your exchange request. In that case, buy a new one and switch the monitors.

By the way - I wouldn't normally condone buying a new one and switching with the broken, but in this case it's different. You bought the monitor from them and it broke during the warranty period. Therefore, I see no problem with your doing this.
