Hey, I am hooking up my new built computer, and it powers on and everything, and the monitor says no signal, so then i plug the cable in, and the no signal sign goes off...but theres no picture on the monitor. What am I to do to get there to be picture? I sure hope my video card isnt dead, if it is...more money down the drain 🙁

Keep the cable plugged in and then restart the computer. If nothing, try turning the monitor off and then on again. If you have any other VGA/DVI ports, try those.

What kind of video card, monitor, and computer setup do you have?

I know a lot of times I'll turn my monitor on right after I turn my computer on, and I'll get a blank screen, and I'll have to turn the monitor off and on again for it to display anything.

Video Card-Sapphire Radeon 9600 Atlantis
Monitor-Samsung Syncmaster 17''
Mobo-Abit NF7
Processor-AMD 2600+ Barton
PS-300w antec
RAM-2x512 Kingston PC2700

In bios, which jack did you set the video to come out of. Some onboard thing, pci, agp....

its a fresh computer...parts just put in....new hd and everything......so i cant even get to the setup....i have it into an AGP slot...is there something on the motherboard i need to set?

Did you check the bios reset jumper? It may not be on the correct one. Also try reseating the video card.

i dont know anything specific about your mobo. check the jumper settings then if there is any and check if it's ok

It's right here, circled in blue. The yellow piece of plastic. You want to make sure that it's sitting on top of the two pins that are marked as "normal". Check your motherboard manual in the jumpers/headers section to see which two pins are the "normal" position. You DO NOT want it in the "reset" position.

the jumper was in the normal position...it seems as if this thing is dead....ill try it out on a friends computer tomorrow just to make sure...ughhh....now im out another $70 to get my htpc up and running 🙁
