Monitor Upgrade

A friend of mine was looking for a gaming monitor upgrade. He plays a ton of BF3 and DOTA2.

I spotted this:

BenQ 27'' 120Hz refresh, no lightboost, for only $200, w/ free shipping.

He's got a mildly OC'd 7850, and a mildly OC'd ivyB-i5, and is currently using a 60Hz 22-23'' TN Panel 1920x1080.

Does that seem like a good value upgrade?

I personally prefer IPS over TN but I understand the sentiment behind TN as well.

For online gaming, 120hz is definitely better. But the monitor you linked, Essence of War, is not 120hz, and it's not TN, it's A-MVA.

I would buy Asus VG248QE 144hz

A 29" 21:9 monitor is 26" wide, do 24" monitors is more like 40" wide. At any rate, being stuck with a non-standard aspect ratio really sucks when you encounter something that doesn't support it.
