I'm going to upgrade mu 17" CRT.
But.totally confused because there are so many brand and models in the market.
I have 7600GT ATM but I'm planning to upgrade my GPU to GTS250 or HD4850.....
 
what resolution/screen size are you looking for? 1680x1050 is usually 22" and 1080p/1200 is 24" and above. prices vary so whats your budget?

as for brands...samsung, dell, acer and asus have very nice monitors. for vendor, avoid newegg because they have an awful dead pixel policy.
 
24" is beyond my budget.....🙁
So I will prefer 22".
If GTS250 or HD4850 can handle all game easily then 1080p will be better.
You can also suggest if there is any good 1680x1050 model.
 
1920x1080 (aka 1080p) LCDs are really cheap now. Usually you can find one brand new for ~$200.

These come in sizes anywhere from 21" to 24".

A monitor should be one of your top investments. Getting a good monitor means you will be happy for many years to come. A lot of people here pay $500+ for a good monitor but they will run through 3 or 4 video cards before wanting/needing to change their monitors. And we're not talking frequent upgraders but people who may only upgrade their video cards every 12-18 months. I have a Dell 2105FPW 21" LCD that is still a great monitor for gaming even though I've since upgraded to a Dell 2407WFP 24" LCD.

If you can't afford a 24" monitor yet, save up a bit. I do understand money can be tight for some people but if you can't afford a good monitor right now, save up a bit and do without. Gaming monitors are a luxury and not a necessity so my suggestion is to just hang tight with your current monitor for just a while longer until you can upgrade to a better monitor.

You've already "put up" with your 17" CRT for so long, why not wait a bit longer and save up a bit more money for a much better monitor? Your eyes will thank you.
 
1680x1050 LCDs are really good in terms of price. They're very close to about $100 or a bit more than that.

However, if you can afford it, ~$200 for 1080p would be better.

My little brother was using a 1680x1050 monitor for a while, but we swapped it with a 1080p LCD and he's been really happy with that, even though the screen size was slightly smaller. Went from 1680x1050 21.6" to 1080p 21.5" or something like that.

Is there any chance of price fall for 24" LCD in near future(like two months) ?
I think 24" is more expensive compare to 22".
For example Dell S2409W 24" 16:9 1080P cost near $280 but Dell S2209W 21.5" 16:9 1080p cost less near $200.
So,should I wait ?
I'm not in a hurry because I will upgrade mu GPU too.

I upgraded my 18 inch CRT to a 37 inch LCD. I suggest you get a nice monitor right off the bat. A monitor will last 5+ years while that $150 videocard will be worth about $20 in 5 years. Your eyes will enjoy it every day for 5 years.

Put it this way,

$1000 --> 5 years x 365 = 1825 days => 55 cents per day
$300 --> 16 cents per day
$150 --> 8 cents per day

Just some food for thought. I'd go for at least a 24 inch 1920x1080.
