while i was playing a game my monitor went black, into sleep mode i think because the orange light is on. i checked the DVI connection between the monitor and video card, it's clean and secure.
tried to shut down computer by pressing power button on case, but it won't shut down. there's also a power button directly on the motherboard; computer ignores that too. even if i hold down either button for 30+ seconds it won't power down. only way i can power it down is to flip the switch on the PSU. 🙁
after doing that i tried a cold boot by holding down the power switch for 30+ seconds without power connection then plugged in power and turned computer on. still won't power down with either button and monitor is still sleeping.
checked dust inside computer, it's clean for the most part.
pulled each video card out of PCI-e slots (i have CrossFire setup) and tried each individually to make sure it isn't a seating/video card issue.
my next step is going to be a hard BIOS reset, i.e. disconnect power connection and remove battery for a good 15+ minutes and also press my motherboard's clear cmos button after that.
i have been doing SLIGHT voltage increase for NB/RAM over the past month or so to resolve some laggy display issues i was previously having, which seemed to go away but now i'm wondering if those minor overclocks had anything to do with this.
will update.
any thoughts or suggestions in the meantime?
