monitor resolution problems!

I have a Gateway EV700 17" monitor and a Radeon LE. When i change the resolution on my system from 1024x768 to 800x600, the picture is offset. I need to switch to a lower res because i want better performance in deus ex. I was wondering if there is any way i can change resolutions without having the picture be offset, with blank space on one side and cut off on the other. I dont want to be forced to resize the picture through the controls on the monitor. I want the picture to be centered no matter what resolution i select. I dont know if this makes sense, but i hope somebody can help. Thanks.

Just manually adjust the picture to the correct size and position for each resolution and next time you go to that resolution it will be saved and centered like you set it. The resolutions I use most - 640x480, 1024x768, and 1280x1024 are all centered right out to the edges. When I switch in to a resolution that isn't set, I'll just set it so it's like that next time I use it.
