Monitor Refresh Rates

What should I have my monitor refresh rate on? I had it on "optimal" when I had Windows 98, and now I've upgraded it to Windows 2000 and have it on 85. Now i get sick (like carsick) whenever I play CS alot, which didn't happen before I upgraded.

Any help would be most appreciated.

find out the highest refresh rate you can have for that resolution according to your monitor's manual and set it to that.

The cone cells in your eyes refresh a a rate of about 65 - 75 HZ. Any refresh rate higher than 75 should give a smooth picture without scan artifacts. But, if your monitor is capable of higher refresh rates, crank it up to the max 🙂

I think the games in Win2k default to 60 Hz, and you have to manually change them somehow (in the registry?). Not sure though, sorry.

This is just a problem with nvidia cards in Win2k, you can get a utility to fix that or just fix it in the registry as you mentioned - no big deal though.
