Monitor refresh rate.

I've got a Samsung SyncMaster 750s monitor. And well I want to use it at 1280x1024, but I can't stand the blinking. The refresh rate for taht resolution is a max of 60hz, so is there anyways to make the blinking stop without changing the refresh rate? If I tell it to use like 70hz of refresh rate the monitor shows a screen saying out of sink. So I can't force a higher refresh rate onto it.

Anyone have any ideas, without haveing to buy a new monitor?

i doubt its your monitor that is preventing you from getting a higher refresh rate. update that old video card.

Actually the refresh rate is maximum of 60hz, I actually email samsung a while back about that and they said the maximum was 60hz.

I guess I'll stick with 1024x760. And it's defenetly not because of my video card.

Thanks for the reply's.

Hmmm i didnt check the specs. that monitor is pretty crappy ... the only way to improve your blinking problem is to lower your res🙁

I just checked the website, and it says maximums are

1024x768 85hz
1280x1024 66hz

Try setting your refresh to optimal. Is your monitor recognized correctly in the control panel? If not, download the .inf file from samsung.

You shouldn't be having a flicker at those resolutions.

The monitor is only capable of 60hz at 1280x1024. I know it says 66hz on there web site, but in the manual it says 60hz, plus I emailed samsung about it and they said it was 60hz not 66hz.

I don't experence flickering at 1024x760 @ 85hz. Just at 1280x1024.

Edit: I like it at 1280x1024 but I can't stand the flickering.

Unfortunately you have only a few options.

1) lower the res
2) buy a new monitor

17's are dirt cheap anyhow. Heck, a KDS AV7TF is only 265.00 at OD.

can you set it to 1152x864? I have a kds 17inch that runs this at 75 which isn't that bad esp compared to 60hz.

oh and if you want an AV7TF you can get one at outpost for 250 free shipping and tax, etc etc. GREAT monitor for the price IMHO.
