Monitor recommendation?

It seems like they don't make good monitors anymore. I have bought and returned 5 monitors of varying makes and models over the past few months and I can't seem to find one that doesn't suffer from annoying backlight bleed or IPS glow or dead pixels. It's incredibly frustrating.

Hmm,tried the Dell H-IPS Ultrasharp 2410?
16:10 aspect ratio with 12bit internal processing....it's a beauty! :awe:

My 2410 has a small amount of backlight bleed and the matte coating is quite noticeable as well. I do however have zero dead pixels.

No idea what IPS glow even is.

I take it you are only speaking about IPS monitors. I assume then that any TN would make you vomit instantly?

It's tough to recommend something without knowing what you've specifically tried. The higher quality Dell IPS monitors are usually perfect, and if not, they have a zero-questions-asked advanced replacement policy on new monitors. The other thing would be to go to a store and actually check out the monitor you're buying before you pick it up.

Well, I have an Asus VG278 and have been very pleased with it. I have wondered what it would be like to have a high quality 1440p IPS monitor, but in the end I know I wouldn't be able to stand the lag of IPS and I don't want to go back to 60hz.
What is important to you? With monitors, there are big time trade offs you have to make.

Well I had a look at IPS glow and yes I have some as well. My 2410 isn't as severe as a lot of the images on Google but its definitely a noticeable effect on a darkened monitor.

The other problem I have with the 2410 is actually the brightness. 0 brightness is still too bright and I end up messing around in software to get it down to something usable and then the calibration is far from perfect. But that seems to be just me, I am not keen on overly bright images.

I didn't like my U2410. I sold it after a while. The coating on the monitor is just ridiculous. Unfortunately I would not recommend it.
