Monitor Recommendation(s)

Hopefully you guys have some recommendations/suggestions for me on a new monitor.

What im looking for:
  • More landscape (Coming from a 22")
  • 1900x1200 (or 1080) or Higher?
  • Doesnt suck
  • $200-$350

This will be an upgrade from my Acer 22". It performs just fine, but i'm getting tired of it, and the size is just disappointing. So what would you guys recommend? Brands, models, anything else

Thanks!

You're not going to get better than 1920x1200 for less than $350. Newegg has 24" 1920x1200 monitors from Asus, HansG, Hyundai, and Samsung in this price range. I've always had luck with Samsung, but I don't know about that particular model.

The Video Card & Graphics subforum as a good monitor thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=39226

...I'm still frustrated that "1080p" is the default size for 24" screens now. I want my extra 120 pixels of vertical space!!!

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. I REALLY dont like the fact that 1080 seems to have become the new standard.

I've also heard good things about THIS MONITOR which is 2048 x 1152. I guess im just trying to figure out if I should go for size, or resolution. I already have a good size TV I use for most media

I personally paid a little extra to get a 16:10 screen. I don't love 16:9.

I picked up the 28" Hans G last Black Friday for $250 shipped. It doesn't have great reviews, but I must not be a monitor snob because it works great for me. So much real estate and my games look great, in my opinion.

Wow that's a strange resolution.

I'm thinking about the 28" Hans-G on Newegg.. Might have to go with it just for size/price

I bought One Of These from Mwave.
Mine arrived with one stuck red pixel that's only visible against a very dark background.
I got mine for $149.95 shipped.
It's very easy for to live with the red pixel for a monitor of this quality at that price.

Perhaps consider a bunch of cheap monitors instead of a more expensive, slightly larger monitor with the exact same resolution? At least that's what I did.

$80/each for 22" 1080P
$140 for 23" 1080P

And cried a little when I missed the $90 23" 1080P deal from dell by 30 minutes.

You won't find these prices right now (well, maybe for the 23" if you look hard enough), but you could still easily buy two extra screens and have three monitors.

Im using this primarily for gaming.. How would 3 monitors help?

This monitor has definitely caught my eye the most. With the 12% Bing Cashback it would be right around $299..

I have the previous version of that.

though i love it, make sure you buy a tilting wall-mount for it, because looking up at the screen will suck. it darkens. so your eyes gotta be perpendicular with the top of the screen to make the whole screen a uniform brightness.

Cool, thanks for the tip! I'm planning on getting a fully adjustable wall mount
