monitor question

Just starting today I was playing Emperor: Battle for Dune and my screen flickerd a few times durning gameplay. At first I was thinking it was a power surge but now I'm not so sure. Heck even as I'm writing this now it flickers perioticly. and it is starting to get more freqent. So my question is: is my monitor getting ready to go or is it something else?
 
forgot to add something, I don't know what type of monitor it is. I'm not to sure it really matters but the thing is almost 2 years old
 
First the simplest thing - make sure your video cable isn't coming loose.
The only other thing I can suggest is you fiddle with your display settings. Try increasing the refresh rate of your monitor. That helped me with some display problems once. Either that or try running at a different screen resolution.
