I was in the market 2big nice NEC/MITSUBISHI FP2141SB 22" monitor, but they are $644 each at newegg shipped. Thats $1288 for a pair. However if I step down to the 19" version they are $270 each and for $810 I could buy three!!!! 50 bucks for a PCI video card and I am in business.

My question is 2 - 22" or 3 - 19" for over 300 less.

Plus I would have more monitor realestate with 3 18" veiwable 19s than 2 20" veiwable 22s.

20" * 20" * 2 = 800 inches^2
18" * 18" * 3 = 972 inches^2

Thanks
KD

Depends, do you really need three screens?

Personally I have seven screens (4 x 19" CRT screens, 1 x 21", laptop LCD and 1 x 17" LCD) on 4 systems in the same room.

They create alot of heat so I have to have a room A/C going all the time just to keep up.

The screen I like the most is my 21".

So unless you need to have three different windows open most of the time then I would suggest the two larger screens.

I did the multi-monitor thing a couple years ago. I found that 2 monitors was better than 3 because with 3 I had to move a lot just to switch from the far left to far right monitor. 3 x 19" is a long way to have to move.

These days I don't do as much web and graphics work, so I just use 1 x 19" monitor at work, and the same at home for gaming. It works fine for me.

EDIT: oops, voted 2 x 22". I wanted to say 2 x 19" because of pricing reasons....

3 19" is only if you really need 3 screens. do they have flight sims that can do that now? seems like u could with 2 pci express vid cards or something hah. eh... but 3 seems like it would only be useful for certain types of work. 2 22" is just plain convenient even for general use. for video u cannot split across screens, lookslike crap
