monitor problems

I have an old monitor that i know is capable of 1024x768, but for some reason lately it will only do 640x480... and when i put it on 800x600 or 1024x768 it just fickers across the screen. is there way to fix this?

the monitor is a HYUNDAI HCM-428E

Try setting the refresh rate lower when you go up in resolution.
