Monitor Problems

Ok my un-tech savy friend is having some trouble, he lives all long way off or I would go fix it myself. Anyone have any idea what is going on here? This is what he says :

"My monitor somehow gets disconnected whenever i play Worlds of Warcraft, it only happens when i play WoW and has never occured at any other time. Started happening once a day, but has increased in occurance to the point where it happens within 10 minutes of loading WoW. The game runs fine otherwise, even at highest settings, i have a raedon 9800, with latest drivers, i have latest directx and windows service pack 2.
Sound continues through the monitor speaks even though monitor fails to display anything."

He has a ProView 17" Active Matrix TFT LCD I believe.

Don't know what the problem is, but what I'd do is start WoW and turn off all unnecessary eyecandy. See if that makes things worse or better or no change.

he is saying no change

Sounds like the monitor is working properly.

I play WOW too.

thankyou. 😛

Anyway... seems like a black screen rather than a bad monitor.

But it only happens in wow? strange. Sounds like a WOW related issue haha. Check the WOW forums for anything related to your problem.

Another suggestion: check to see if you have the most recent graphics card driver for the 9800.
