Monitor / Power Saving Mode / + USB ports...

On the motherboard I currently have, the USB ports have been fickle for the last 6 months or so... not always recognizing/not able to use some peripherals I have connected (esp the KB and mouse).

The end result is that when this happens, it seems the monitor gets no input from the mouse and/or the keyboard, senses inactivity, and then goes into 'power saver mode'. Then I can't get the monitor to 'wake up', and cannot use the computer.

I have tried moving the usb cables around, etc... Last night, after several reboots it worked. When I was going to bed I shut off the computer. This am, same thing again, but this time I can't get comp to 'wake up'... Once it was running I should not have turned it off.

What should I do now? This MB is 3 years old, and has been a bit flakey lately. I am using our 'dog' laptop now...

Turn off the monitor's power saving sleep mode. Use the on/off switch and do it as needed. Get yourself a powered USB hub for your devices.

Adjusted monitor settings... a bit tough to find in Win 7...duh...

Installed new chipset drivers for this MB available from Asus site since fall of '09...duh, again...maybe this will help w/ flaky usb ports...

I had a powered usb hub... didn't seem to help.

Thank you.
