monitor power management question

Win98se; I currently have power management enabled for the monitor only. I want to save power when I walk away from the computer, but I don't want to keep hitting the power button on the monitor. Sometimes the screen flicks off as it should after 5 minutes of mouse inactivity, and sometimes it doesn't.

Anyway, is there any command in windows that will enable the monitors power management as soon as its run? I could make an icon of it and stick it in my taskbar.

Not sure what you're doing. You say you hit the power button to "turn on" the moniter when it's "off"? I have mine set for 10 min and all I do is move the mouse. Have you tried this?

Thanks for the response.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I've been turning off the monitor with the power switch. I would like a way to double click on an icon and have the monitor go into power saving mode immediately instead of waiting 5 or 10 minutes.

When it does enter power saving mode, a movement of the mouse will take it out of this mode.
