Yeah, go w/ the NEC. Assuming you don't mind hauling it around, since it weighs more than 3 times as much (65 pounds vs. 17 pounds)

(the difference between the monitors is the branding, if you'll notice... the Mitsu brand is $60 more than the NEC brand, go w/ the NEC one for less, unless you want to have 2x D-Sub... it doesn't look like the NEC has 2 D-Sub))

The NEC.
The 2005fpw doesn't give the best resolutions for games. (if CS:S plays at 1680x1050, then this doesnt matter)

Now if you wanted the 2001fp then that may be a different story.

I've got the NEC FE2111SB 22" CRT that's a step down from the NEC you're looking at. Mine's a great monitor in the size and performance so the one you're looking at will be even better if you get it.

I have the 2005 FPW... I would say go with it over a CRT, it is very good in general and even plays games fine, that is the ones that can't match the native resolution.

But anyway most of the new games out today either natively support 16:10 or can be forced to via an ini file, so that shouldn't be a concern.

The only thing is blacks, you will definitely notice that they are not black, but it doesn't bother me at all so if you don't think it will bother you I'd say go with it.

what do you mean they look purplish? alot of people are telling me to go with the 2005fpw? a certain person told me of course the crt is gonna win everyone is AT is performance. i think that is right. i like widescreen so i can watch movies on it too and t.v but i just want a good monitor flat out. my friend has a samsung lcd its vga probably 25ms havent seen any ghosting? i dont think the dell 2005FPW will either considering its better than that samsung. i like his looks fine. what is the precentage of getting an lcd with dead pixels?

w00t already knows the answer to this question and he's already asked and received the answer in other threads. Doesn't matter what answer you give anyway as he's CRT man. My answer is perfectly in context given the facts I know.

hes right that i am leaning towards the crt but i trust crt since that is all i have ever owned this would be my 1st lcd and i am quite frankly scared to buy one. but somthing is telling me that i should get the lcd and it will do what i need and weight alot less. and picture and text will be crisp.

I've had a Mitsubishi DiamondPro 21" (I think they are similar?) since 1998 and it is fantasitc. Every time I go to the computer store I look at all of the LCD screens to see if there's one out there that matches my CRT for display. Nothing has even come close (yet). I will tell you one thing though: these big CRT's don't move. Just taking mine off of the desk to clean it was a pain!

if i get a crt i am gonna have to get a new desk too though so i dont know yet. an lcd would be nice but i am still wondering about performance. if no ghosting i will be fine than and as i hear there is no ghosting in 16-12ms. so i am gonna go with the dell 2005fpw. anyone have a review i would like to read about it i saw the 2001fpw review but i want to see the 2005fpw review.

the nec diamond pro's are the best quality and appearance computer displays on the market today. If you are looking for the very best in color reproduction and display for gaming, than the 22" diamondtron is it. oh btw, make your mind up fast, as nec/mitsubishi are discontinuing the aperture grille crts. methinks they are too expensive to make and not making them enough profits, along with the goofy switch in the industry to lcd, before the technology has even managed to match the quality of a high end crt

its just so confusing they both cost around the same price. one weight less than 20 pounds one weight 65. they both wouldnt be bad for gaming. i would have widescreen. if i went with diamond pro's than i get high refresh rates low responce time. its like agp and pci-e. also, if i get the crt i would have to get a new desk considering the monitor ways 65.7 pounds and the comp would be even heavier on a glass desk so, but i wouldnt mind getting a new desk. i just cant make up my mind part of me wants to get the 2005FPW and part wants me to get the NEC 22.
"lcd may never be as fast as crt, but it's obviously good enough to the point where tere is no real difference"
"well, 16 ms is the unofficial standard for saying that it's great for gaming"
