Monitor not waking up properly

When PC goes to sleep my monitor won't wake up properly, it's got vertical colored lines all over it, sometimes if I unplug it and plug back in it works, any ideas?
 
Could also be your video card not waking up ahead of the monitor.
 
Look in BIOS for display related setting options for an inappropriate setting:
:
- Video Memory Cache Mode [UC/USWC]
- Video Off Option [Suspend -> Off]
- Video Off Method [DPMS Off]


This last mode allows the BIOS to control the video display card if it supports te DPMS feature.
