Monitor not recognized on Startup

Hey everyone.

So I have an Asus PB278 on DVI at 2560 as my main, and a viewsonic VA2212 at 1920 on VGA converted to DVI-I as my second monitor. This has been my setup for almost a year since I upgraded to a gigabyte GTX 970.

Now for no apparent reason when I startup my PC the Asus is not detected and remains so until I disconnect and reconnect the DVI cable. I've tried just powering the monitor off and back on but that is not enough. I checked my graphics driver and it is up to date. also I have tried using display port cables but I never could figure out why they aren't recognized even before this started.

I had similar problem with my 1440p DP monitor from cold startup. Fix for me was making sure monitor had manufacturer monitor.inf file installed (instead of "generic PNP monitor" from microsoft).
