Monitor not detected in Win XP after installing video drivers

I reformatted a somewhat old machine with windows XP. After I installed chipset and VGA drivers and rebooted the desktop resolution is stuck at 640x480 and 4 bit and I can't change it in the settings. I'm positive I've installed the right drivers so I don't know what the problem might be.

Anyone have a fix for this?

Boot the PC up in enabling native mode, which i believe is 800X600 (hit f8 at startup) and find a better driver. Sounds like a bad driver. Are you getting the driver from the manufacture?

Def. a video driver issue.

I second the notion that it is a driver at fault...4-bit color? Even the standard VGA adapter driver in Windows runs at 16/32-bit...definitely something wrong with the driver.

Yeah it was a driver issue, I reverted to the Windows driver and it works now, thanks for nothing MSI.

Anyway thanks for the help.
