Monitor not booting correctly?

So I just installed a new motherboard, and when I boot up the computer, the computer posts, the boot screen shows up, the computer loads up the CPU, memory, and detects IDE drives. Then the monitor goes black and a little green box with [Hz ?] starts floating on my screen. I can't do anything else. I'm guessing this is an out-of-sync error or something, but how the heck do I fix it? I'm out of ideas.

Can I flash the BIOS without accessing it? When I hit DEL to access the BIOS the screen just goes black and nothing happens. No HD activity, etc.

You can flash it with a bootable floppy, it shouldn't matter if you can't access the configuration screen.

If it doesn't work, you can try to find someone with a similar board to yours (or just a similar chip) and try hot swap flashing it, but this is a risky procedure.

It might not be the BIOS, it might be the video card or something... but I assume it used to work fine and the only component you changed is the mobo. You tried reseating everything and checking for shorts right?

Try clearing the BIOS first,,,reflashing is a last resort as far as I"m concerned

Just for laughsm reset the video card and check the cable connections.

Yeah, I tried reseating the card, checked connections, etc. It's just weird that it would show the splash screen, then go out of sync when booting into Windows... I tried booting in safe mode, again, out of sync.

Anyone have any ideas why I can't access the BIOS at all? The computer just goes to a black screen and sits there.

Could this be a power supply issue? I just bought an Antec Truepower 430 in October to make my computer quieter. I'm going to try my last power supply to make sure...

Okay, I'm RMAing the Corsair memory, hopefully that'll fix some of the problem. I actually was able to get into the BIOS once, but on restart none of the settings got saved. This is just frustrating to say the least.
