Monitor native resolution

I'm planning to purchase a widescreen monitor with 1680 X 1060 resolution. I currently have a ATI AIW 8500DV card but it does not show this resolution in screen properties. When I plug in the new monitor will the OS detect the native resolution and make that option available or do I have to do something else to make it work? Also this monitor can be rotated 90 degrees for portrait document mode. Will this also then become an option in screen properties?

It will on some but no worries as that card supports wide screen in it's properties...just adjust if need be

If it's a DVI connected flat panel monitor, then yes, the graphics card has a chance of detecting its "special" resolution automatically. If it's a CRT (or a VGA-connected flat panel), then chances are you'll have to tell the graphics card's driver, or at least install the monitor's own .INF description file (aka "monitor driver").

ATi's current driver sets support rotation from within the driver. It should already be there, regardless of what display you're using now. Else, try the latest Catalyst first.
