Monitor Mayhem

Ok I got a Asus 26 inch monitor and its dead. Got it at Christmas ASUS VK266H. Dont know what happened but it has died. Now I am wondering if instead of replacing it with the same one if I should look for a better or bigger one. I see the Asus 27 inch is $40 more. But I am worried about Asus since this one fried so fast. Bigger is always better for a monitor but I dont know about getting another Asus monitor. Was told they were very good. Please advise???

I dont think asus monitors are any worse than any other brand. Your experience with one unit doesn't lend any insight into failure rates of asus in general. Have you looked into getting your monitor replaced under warranty? Should be cheaper than getting a new one

Oh yes warranty is covering it. I just wondered if anyone else had one die in 90+- days. I can upgrade to the 27inch ASUS MT276HE for about $40 more. Just curious if anyone else had a bad asus experience w/monitors.

but you wont know failure rates without also hearing about all the good experiences 🙂

If you're able to find 4 other people who had asus monitors die in the first couple of months, it doesnt mean anything without knowing that number in context. Was it 4 failures out of 100 owners? 4 out of 1000? 4 out of 10,000? Those would correspond to very different quality implications.

For the record, my roommate has an 22" acer monitor he's used for over 2 years with no problems.

Yeah I upgraded from an Acer 22 that was about as old. Had one stuck pixel and was 1680 X 1050 and works great to this day. Its on my kids machine now. Just fishing for info 🙂. Newegg has them well rated as well. I did hear about 1920x1080 having an issue on ATI cards not filling the screen so I dont know if I will jump to a 1080 panel over 1200 if thats a real issue, but I put a question in the ATI section to see if this is true or not.
