monitor issues

I already posted some of this in the video forum, but i didn't get many responces, so im trying again here.

I just got a new Samsung SyncMaster 793DF, a 17" flatscreen CRT, yesterday, but its image is weird. The bottom of the image is a flat line, like it should be, but the top of the image is a line that is curved upwards at the ends, more on the left side than the right. This carses any straight line that is displayed on the top third of my monitor to be bent up at the ends too.

It is the worst about an inch down and to the right of the top left corner of the screen, so my back and forward buttons in firefox, and everything around them, are at an angle.

I have messed with every geometry setting i have for the monitor, but none seem to help. Anyone know how to stop this or make it not as bad as it is?

Two more questions:
My monitor resizes its self slightly every time i maximize a window when all other windows are either closed or minimized. Is this normal?

I get slight ghosting when i move the cursor around against a black background. Does this normally happen with CRT's?

I really don't want to return it because i bought it from amazon and i'd probably have to pay $30 shipping, and im on a tight budget because im upgrading soon.

It'd be hard to say without looking at the geometry myself but it sounds like you got a dud. I think that uses the same tube as the samsung 997 so it's not that surprising to me it has so many problems. The ghosting you speak of is normal for that monitor all shadow mask monitor seem to do that a bit. It's really bad with that tube though....personally I'd return it for a refund and spend more on a better monitor...😉

I'd like to, but like i said, im already over what i had hoped to spend for my computer, and shipping would probably be $30, plus a better monitor would probably cost $200. I can't really afford that which is why i was asking here for help.
