Im in the market for a monitor which I will use for games, and some internet browsing. Saw this Sony for $500 at newegg.comhttp://www.displaysbysony.com/display/model.jsp?pModelId=574&pMenu=Specs

Which monitors do you guys reccomend? I hear NEC is great nowadays.

Thanks for the link, but Im really not into the LCD's at this time.
I do want a CRT though. Id like to know some good restimony of fellow computer users. Im looking at 21 "ers.
Thanks.

I bought a NEC fe2111sb 21" crt. It's a high end crt but not the most expensive one which was good for my bank account. I got it for $940 Canadian and I like it alot, especially with my new Radeon 9800 card. Text is sharp and the colours are vibrant. I looked at the top end one's but couldn't bring myself to spend over a grand on a monitor. The only problem is that the image drifts a few millimetres in the first half hour it's on and then it stabilizes. That doesn't bother me though. It's also got this feature called Superbright where it has 3 built in presets for brightness which is handy when you're switching from desktop to game - though other companies probably have a similar feature. You just press a button on the front of the monitor and the Superbrights level cycles through the 3 presets.

I have read quite a few people who had problems with their NEC/Mitsubishi monitors but I've mostly read good stuff about the top of the line Sony models. I'm happy with my NEC but if I had to buy another monitor I might give the Sony a try.

Sony make a great looking monitor but they're pricey and (I believe) they have only a 1 year warranty. That said, my CPD-G400 (19" Trinitron) is still running great after 5 years of heavy use.

I have never heard anything bad from NEC's 21" ers. Too bad my local stores dont have any in stock so I could check them out.

There was a thread on these forums awhile back with Tourguide and Muse and a third guy who had been having trouble with their NEC/Mitsubishi's. They had to return their monitors a couple of times to get a good one and I think one of them ended up going with the Sony. Don't get me wrong, I own a NEC and like it alot. The 2141/2070 has won at least one web monitor round-up (i think it was at Tom's or SharkyExtremes). I guess the best thing is to just make sure you buy from somewhere with a good return policy.

I would recommend NEC FP2141SB-BK 22-inch or Sony 21 inch G520P. I have the Sony myself but I've heard good things about the NEC. That said I love my Sony.

That Sony is $682. Wow alot of money for a monitor. I was really hoping to spend $500-$550 tops on a good all around monitor. I should have a good price range for that.

Sony G520P is $562 at Newegg with free shipping. The $682 price you saw is before the $120 instant rebate.

Great deal if you ask me.

Holy Cow....I was totally leaning twords the Sony, and I got paid today, so tomorrow was going to be my purchase day. but that 220f Viewsonic is SWEEEEEEET. .21 hor/.25diag dot pitch, and only $435??!!!
Help me decide please!!!!!!

update: i googled a search for reiviews, and cannot find any. Any input is appreciated. .
