Monitor Help....refresh rates

Ok here's the problem, I own a Daytek DT-1531, and as of now I can either go into 640x480, 800x600, or 1280x1024. Every other resolutions results in my screen going blank and the monitor light flashing. Im running Xp, and ran into the 60hz nVidia problem, so I used RivaTuner for the optimal refresh fix. Now I can't go into say a desired resolution of 1024x768. Iv also noticed that when I bring up my monitor controls, it will either say 1280x1024 @ 85hz, or 800x600 @ 84hz when I have my display settings at 8x6. When I go into the only other working rez, 1280x1024, the monitor reports the correct rez @ 60hz.
Very annoying. Any ideas?
Thanks for the time

Ps: I have a Geforce2 MX 400 running the newest xp detonators.

Set your monitor to plug-n-play and reinstall the latest reference detonator drivers.

Reinstall the monitor drivers too, and try this patch instead. I've never used the Riva Tuner, so I don't know if it's buggy, but I've been using this one for a while now under Win2k and WinXP without any problems.

That patch at least gave me the option of lowering my refresh....but I still haven't gotten it to fix the default rates. Thanks for the link.
