Monitor has small blue lines on white (HP LP2475w)

I recently purchased a new monitor (HP LP2475w) and from time to time these odd blue lines appear on anything that is white (and a couple of other shades of gray). It only appears when there is anything dark to the left of the white area. The strange thing is also that it isn't always there, it is usually not there when I turn on the monitor, but then it appears pretty quickly and after a bit if time it will disappear and appear again randomly (not flickering). Here is a picture, does anyone know what this could be or how to fix it?

My setup is MacBook Pro -> Thunderbolt-to-HDMI Adapter -> HDMI-to-DVI cable -> DVI input of monitor.

I also tried using an HDMI cable and connecting it to the HDMI input, this however results in a sort of fuzzy text, but that is apparently a problem that quite a few people have had.

😱
Do you really need all those connectors! That's asking for trouble.
I don't know your monitor and have no experience with mac's but if you use HDMI and the display native resolution you shouldn't get any fuzzy text.
If you really need all those connectors, avoid the cheap ones; they can cause all kind of headaches.

Hey, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I do need all those adapters/cables because there are almost no displays that have a Mini-DP/Thunderbolt input. I think it's a pretty standard Mac setup. I tried with two different adapters (admittedly neither of them are apple brand) and they both had the same issue. On a second inspection, it appears that everything is rendered slightly incorrectly when connected via HDMI (as if a non native resolution were used)..

Ok, just realized that the adapter isn't just a recabling, but also requires circuitry, guess a cheapo one will make a difference. I'll go buy an apple brand one tomorrow, see if that makes any difference.

you realize thunderbloat is the same socket as minidisplayport. you should be able to buy a minidisplayport to normal displayport cable and just route directly from laptop video out to monitor displayport in.
