Monitor Hard Drive Life

In search of a program to monitor hard drive SMART data...not just temperature but condition and all that. HDDlife pro looks really nice but was wondering if there is any freeware prog out there that can provide similar information?

Sure, there are lots of freeware to read SMART data. I like this one:

PCWizard 2006

I believe their home page is www.cpuid.org

However, and this is important: the amount of SMART info depends on what your HDD manufacturer decides to reveal. For example on my Toshiba laptop, virtually nothing is revealed. But, PCWizard does report a "healthy" score of 99%.

The SMART data in PCWizard is found under "number of hard disks"

Speedfan has an online analysis tool that checks your drives smart status against a database of other users' status. That way your results are relative to other drives in circulation rather than numbers made up by the manufacturer. Also, you can do just a regular smart check if you want.
