Monitor gone green

I'm using a Dell SP2208wfp lcd monitor which was working fine but isn't working anymore with what I'm trying to do. Here what I did:

I was connecting the monitor to my 8800gt with a DVI to DVI cable and it was working perfectly. Since the DVI cables have these massive blocks around the head I couldn't fit the cable head through the wiring hole in my built-in desk, so I ordered a DVI to HDMI cable since I could easily fit the small HDMI plug through the hole.

Unfortunately my monitor isn't working right at all with my new 8800GT > DVI > HDMI > Monitor setup. Everything that was black is now green and other colors have a bluish greenish tint. Also the resolution is slightly too big so that the bottom half of my toolbar is out of the visible area.

I called Dell but the tech support was of no help, just told me I need a dvi to hdmi converter. Everything I've read says that DVI output should work with HDMI input. Have I done something wrong?

Nevermind, got it fixed. Had to switch the monitor's color input mode from YPbPr to RGB which is apparently what DVI uses but not what HDMI expects.
