Monitor goes to sleep on startup - suggestions?

I have a monitor that goes to sleep mode when I boot up the computer and won't come out of it. I've checked all the pins and used this monitor on two different computers(and have used a working monitor on both of those). Anyone have any suggestions - seems a shame to waste a 19" monitor. Thanks in advance.

Look into the BIOS, or turn the monitor on after bootup?
