monitor goes to off mode in 5 secs

When computer is started up..the monitor says it is going to off mode in 5 seconds.
Only thing in the computer is:
-Asus K8N-Deluxe
-memory
-and video which is the nvidia 5700
-psu=350 watts

Any ideas?
 
can you get into bios in this time, and disable APCI.

If not, try unplugging computer, and taking out the CMOS battery, at the same time using the CMOS clear jumper [look in mobo manual - will be near to CMOS battery].
Leave like this for 20 minutes.
Replace jumper, replace battery, plug in. See what happens
