Here is the problem, my LCD randomly goes into standby (monitor light turns amber) while i am working on it. Nothing works after that and I have to press the power button till it switches off. Here is the configuration

Monitor : Hyundai L90+
Graphics: Asus 7600GT
PSU: Enermax 350watts
RAM: Corsair Value Select 1GB
CPU: AMD 64 3000
Motherboard: MSI K8NGM2-FID

It used to to do this off and on while working on Windows but now it goes into standby even when i just boot up my PC and right after the BIOS screen, since I have onboard graphics I tried it in on the onboard video as well but no luck...

Any suggestions?

The first thing i would do is plug in any other monitor, that also has the standby feature (most do) and see if it does it with that one as well, if other monitors do the same thing, then it is your pc/video card not sending an "im active" signal to the monotor. If it does not do it with the other test monitor then obviously the problem would lie with your monitor or it's VGA/HDMI cable. If the cable is detachable try a new cable. If you troubleshoot to this point and it still does it then you know your monitor is fried.

since i dont have a spare HDMI cable I connected an analog vga cable and it said no signal.. i connected it to my laptop and it's working fine.. (video card only has DVI so was only able to test it with onboard video)

If it works with another machine + cable then you can safely bet that its one of the two things. You need a way to rule one of them out

Could it be the PSU? The video card recommended at least a 450w PSU but I am running it on a 350w PSU.

absolutely. I;d go ahead and get a 550watt for any other upgrades down the road, maybe a 600watt.

update: removed the graphics card and then hooked the monitor to the onboard card and it's working fine now so it's either the PSU or the video card

can you manually test the psu, please?
do you have a system that is 100% working that you could put the video card in?

one last thing, it could be a defective pciex slot.
