monitor flickering

i Have a 19in MAG lcd that seems to flicker. It would work fine for a while but then all of a sudden get a bit darker and start to flicker. If i unplug it and plug it back in, it would turn on for a second then turn black with the green power light still on. I dont think its my video card becaue i tried it on 2 diffrent computers and it still happens. Is there something wrong with the monitor?
Thanks

make sure the cable to the PC is connected tightly, and the power to the monitor is connected tightly at both ends. Maybe a cleaning of all contacts is in order. Caig Labs products are my fave. caig.com

Its the power adapter module (power inverter) that's acting up. I have the similar problem on my lcd too. I use the lcd when repairing other computers. My LCD is 8yrs old and its on its last legs.

In your case, it maybe cheaper to replace instead of repairing. The parts run about $90. Its no quarantee that may solve any unseen or non-diagnosed problem either.

Nvidia has a flicker filter for my TV output, but since I don't have a second monitor, I don't know if that filter would be there for it or not. I have never needed it, but I don't understand why that filter is not available on my monitor also. If you do have two monitors, you might try setting the problem monitor as your secondary display, and see if the flicker filter appears.

The monitor is fine when i use it for the first time in a while. Then it gets dark, but enough to see and flicker. Today i noticed that when i unplug and plug it back in it seems like it is turned off, but at a certain angle with light from my window, there is actaully something on the screen But so dark that it seems off. When i leave it off for a few hours and come back its fine but lasts only a few min before going to the flickering

Thanks for the responses, if the backlights dead would it be fine then go dark? or would it just be dark the whole time? The power thing sounds more like the it but i dont know for sure.

failing cathode tube or inverter. there are instructions online on how to replace backlights using case light cold cathodes. its kinda a hack though. backlight probably works wiggy for a while and then it will die completely
