monitor flickering

My monitoring has been flickering recently. I have a nec multisync fe991sb, radeon 9500 (soft modded and oc'ed), and enermax 431w power source. I had this setup for a while now but it just started flickering recently. What could the problem be? The refresh rate is at 60hz, what are the positives and negatives of increasing the refresh rate?
 
What resolution are you running?

Recommended is 1024x768 @85Hz

The higher the Refresh rate, the less flicker you will notice.
 
is it constant or just ocasional? my monitor flickers every time on on my cell phone. freaked the hell out of me the first time. anything nearby that could be causeing interfearence?
 
theres nothing new around my monitor, however I increased the refresh rate to 85hz and the flickering is gone, why did it flicker at 60hz tho? I had it at 60 for a while
 
they always flicker at 60hz... but lots of people dont notice it unless they spend some time looking at another monitor with a higher refresh rate, or an LCD. then when they look at their own they notice the flicker 🙂
