After a strong lightning this afternoon my pc shut down, when i turned it back on the monitor was flickering really bad at 75hz, which is the frequency i normally use it, i even tried setting it to 85hz but there is still some flickering, is there any way i can fix this?

It's an old 17" CRT by the way

Start by trying the monitor on another machine or another monitor on yours. You need to determine if the problem is with the monitor or the vid card.

Good luck. 🙂

It turned out to be the power supply. A little component exploded, which justifies the smell of something burning i felt.

It explains the smell, but it doesn't justify it. Take that up with Zeus or Thor, depending on which culture's lightning god interests you. 😉

But yeah, a lightning strike can take out PSU caps. Glad you found the problem. Hope the rest of the PSU survived.
