Hello... as I was walking through my local WalMart I noticed that they were selling filtering screens for the monitors. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. What I want to know is how effective or useful are these? I spend hours on my computer each day and my eyes can get sore and I was wondering how this would help. Is it just another useless thing to buy?

Thanks!

I don't use one my self. But I'm having the same problem when I spend alot of hours on my main computer. Which I use a CRT monitor for that system. On the other hand I can spend ton on hours looking at my laptop's screen without my eye's even hurting. I seen the monitor filter you are talking about at Wal-Mart. Even Best-Buy uses them on there monitor's so that might say something. If you are like me I spend alot of hours looking at computer screens all day at work. Then I come home and look at some more. I might even try one my self.

i think its so people can't glance from the side of the monior and see what is being written. They are for security purposes

No, monitor filters don't do that. What you are talking about cost a lot of money and restrict people on the sides of the monitor from viewing your stuff. What I'm talking about is a thing that filters out UV Rays and whatever else that package listed. ;) It does nothing for security purposes... only health.
