Monitor dying? probably...

So maybe 2 months ago this 19" NEC fe991SB CRT started doing this thing where the bottom/top of the screen would pull towards the center.

Now the entire screen pulls into a single white line in the center and gets stuck that way. Sometime's it'll go back to normal or be partially visible.

This monitor is only like 3 years old and was pretty high end... is it just finished?

Possibly something wrong with the vertical deflection.

Monitor repair FAQ

ONLY open a monitor if you are comfortable exposing yourself to at least 30,000 volts, backed by enough current to cause injury or death.

Why not unplug it..?

I've tried unplugging, repositioning wires, deguass, lowered resolution and refresh rate, etc. No dice.

Don't think I'm going to open it to try to repair it, heh. Ughh... this is the last time I buy a NEC monitor.

EDIT: Now I'm on some old Dell backup monitor. But I have to go down to 1024x768 res to get 85hz, bleh.

Anybody know someone in the Atlanta area who can do it at reasonable cost?

I'm thinking some connection inside must be loose based on how this happened sorta slowly.
