Monitor dieing?

Just wondering if any else has seen an issue like this. Starting in the last week or so when my main monitor (Samsung Syncmaster 204T) powers on from being idle, it goes into kind of a flickering "strobe light" like mode. It'll do this maybe 15 seconds then go black (still powered on). If I power it off and back on, it'll flicker a few more seconds then go black again. Power cycle it a few more times and it'll eventually start working. 😕

Edit: Just to clarify, the "flicker" I'm talking about is or appears to be the actual backlight. It's not like flickering from having the wrong refresh rate.

The inverter or bulbs may be going out. After the backlight turns off, you can shine flash light on the screen and see the LCD signal.

I disagree.

This sounds like a classic case of failing electrolytic capacitors in the PS section of the monitor.
