Monitor delay between video modes

Hello,
Long time reader, first time poster.

I used to have an NEC C900 19" CRT monitor and I hated how it took about 3-5 seconds to click off/on when switching between video modes. I upgraded to an HP 1703 17" LCD about 6 months ago and it does the same thing. I know it's not my video card - my friend has the same card with a Samsung LCD and it switches modes in the blink of an eye. I'm just wondering if there's something I can change or if there's a certain spec. to look for when buying a monitor.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I"m fairly certain the delay when a CRT changes mode is a function of the electical components and relays in the monitor. It's basically built that way and I'm pretty sure there is nothing you can do about it.

Those things get on my nerves too, especially sometimes when I have a warmed up monitor but it changes modes when I reboot and I miss the info. on the POST screen that I want to see cause the monitor is dilly-dallying in sync'ing up!

Thanks for the response.
That's exactly what I mean. I miss the POST screen also.

The thing that I think is weird is that my LCD monitor does it though. I'm using the DVI port, maybe that's it.
