I have (or had that is) 19" KDS monitor. Thats about 4.5 years old. I was using it today, and then the screen flickered and then it zapped. It turned off and the light flashed green to yellow..then back to green then it would flicker around with green and nothing. Last year it started to do weird stuff like refresh screen like turn off and on almost and make a noise....not like Degauss. It aslo makes a weird electric noise almost like a mouse (the animal of course) as if its trying to start but can't. I have yet to open it...does it sound like there is hope or no? What can I do besides drop it from the balcony? Thanks.

Try it with a different computer to make absolutely sure it is dead. Dragging it behind a truck would be interesting too:p

my fiance's KDS monitor did something similar (wasn't there to witness a zap though)

I thought it was fried by lightning because it did the exact same thing you're describing, so I took it to my house to test on an alternate comp...dang thing worked. I took it back and worked on her comp. I did try a different power cable...not sure if that was what did it or just magic...but hey..who cares.

sounds more like the high voltage transformer decided to go out for dinner...? :(

You might take it to a shop and get it fixed or atleast and estimate...? If the cost is to high... time to buy... (another)

Well I tried it on my laptop and it didn't work. I actually plugged it in and after I turned it off because nothing worked there was a loud pop. So now I think I ruined something else.... :( I did not try a different power cord though but I dont think that is wishful thinking. As for a high voltage transformer I dunno where that is. I guess I can try to take it to repairs. Thanks
