Hi,

I have a Viewsonic 19'' monitor. There is a smear, or fudge, along the upper right corner. I have trying wipping with water; however, nothing helps. I do not want to use cleaning solution like windex until I am position it will not ruin the monitor. Is there a solution that is appropriate for cleaning monitor as well as other screens such as TV? Thanks.

You can clean it with windex, just don't do it very often. I clean mine with windex once a month, and have been doing it for the past 2 years. Nothing has happened to it, and it looks great. Just don't clean it everyday.

LuciferHaze, shut the FVCK UP!!!! :|:|:|

Noo!! Do not clean with Windex! It will destroy the monitor's anti-glare coating.

Have you tried soap?

Eyeglass cleaner solution works well if it says 'Safe for coated lenses' or something to that effect. Any kind of monitor cleaner without ammonia will do.

I don't know if alcohol is safe for monitors.

Have you tried the Scotch-Brite High performance cleaning cloths? I bought some for like 2 dollars each at Albertsons.

some eye glass cleaners actually do have ammonia in them. When they say they are coated lens safe, they are alcohol free. BOTH alcohol and ammonia can hurt the monitor's coatings.

If you want to get ghetto, you can use dish washing soap. Dilute it with a lot of water (i'm talking a couple drips per bucket full of water). Than use a soft cloth to wash the screen then risne clean with a different, slightly damn cloth. That should get rid of gunk.

Of course you can alwaz get the monitor cleaner solution, mentioned above, which will be in a covenient spray bottle.

Most eyeglass cleaners work great. I bought mine at Costco. Two little spray bottles(last a long time)for around 5 bucks.

The bottle does not list the ingredients, but does say that it is safe and effective for prescription glasses, sunglasses, camera lens and computer screens.

Best part is they will refill the bottles for free!

You should always use a soft cloth to clean-never paper towels!

Yucky, you stupid goof! I have to agree with you. Use only water and a SLIGHTLY damp paper towel or shimmy. :|:disgust::frown::D:|:(:|

BChild & shiznut123, when you wash your SBrite High Performance cloth remember not to use fabric softner in the wash water, as that can contaminate the cloth and cause it to smear the very surface you're trying to clean.
