I have a samsung 955df monitor hooked up to a tnt2ultra... Whenever i go from White to black, the monitor varies in size (the borders move out or in) a little bit. What causes this? is it the monitors fault or the video card?

The monitor is only 1 day old so i need to know very quickly whether or not to take it back. I have run the recommended timings as well as other timings and it does the same thing no matter what. I was once told that this meant that there were power supply problems with the monitor but i do not think that this is the case. Also, sometimes if i go from a light (or white) window to a much darker screen (minimize something etc) i get a small sound just like when static is released from the glass of the monitor... is this a bad thing? The monitor is brand new.

please help and TIA

That's a common issue on cheaper monitors due to cheap power regulators.

You might want to try and take it back, or ask others with the 955DF if they have the same problem. Usually you can't do much about it though other than look for a model that won't do that.

What is weird is that the samsung955DF has fairly high ratings whenever i have taken a look at it anywhere... here is another question. The one that is doing this is actually for a customer but i have a 955df which i run at 1440x1080 @ 72hz and every once in a while i get a "pop" sound and then the screen flickers just once... it sounds almost like a spark jumping. The monitor that is doing that is less than a year old and i dont think it really has problems with the different colors/etc.

Is there any way to replace a power regulator if it goes wrong?

what could be wrong with my other monitor?

In my experience, screen regulation is usually a design issue rather than a fault with a particular unit unless something is very badly broken. I would suggest attempting to get a different model.

Agreed. Nokia makes a software utility that can help you decide if something is wrong or if "that's just the way it is". Do a Google search for Nokia monitor calibrator and try it out.

Not good at all, don't keep the monitor. Some old monitors act that way, when you go to a bright screen they show a larger picture.

I was hearing that same "pop" sound before my monitor blew up one morning. They fixed it and now it's ok, no more weird sounds coming from it.
