Monitor Calibration Question

On some of my pictures in Windows XP during night shots with flash the edge of my pictures will have a white glow around them. But if I print it out the glow is gone. What's set too high? Brightness or contrast? Lately my eyes have been getting really tired lately. I used to have my brightness set to 60% and my contrast to 100%. But today I "calibrated" my monitor to a couple of calibration tests on google, brightness is now 75% and contrast is 85%. I wonder if my monitor is going bad. Envision EN-770e, time for an upgrade!!!
