Monitor Cable Quality

I bought a BNC-VGA cable for my 19" CTX PR960FL about a year ago. I think the cable is getting worn, as sometimes you'd have to jiggle the cable to turn it on. I just got a new Radeon 9500 Pro to replace my Kyro 2 and now I notice some flickering. I suspect it's my cable.

I bought that cable for $15 Canadian and I notice that a lot of cables are in excess of $50 US! I'm going to replace my cable, since I need a cable, I may as well get another BNC. But would there be any diff between the quality of the cheaper cable and the expensive ones?

PS. I lost my original VGA cable.

Edit: Typo.

i say buy the cheapest one possible. i live in the US and the cable that came with my $40 envision that is made in bejing, china works fine, so i can't see why anything cheap wouldn't work

or try the FT/FS forum, or look for garage sales, maybe pick up a $10 moniter with cables with it...

Cheap cables can cause display problems, especially when driving larger/high resolution monitors at high refresh rates. We had a problem driving Sun 21" monitors at 1280x1024 with really thin (cheap) cables. All the text was blurry.

Try here for $28.41 😉,use QuickFind code: 06757 .

The way I look at it is a quality cable will last you a lifetime, and most people will spend big bucks on their monitor so having a decent quality cable that will last several monitor upgrades is worthwhile IMHO.

Go with a good quality cable as others have advised. The cheap ones don't have good shielding between the conductors which can cause ghosting and other image problems. If you do a goggle you can find good shielded cables for ~$25.00

Acutally, it wasn't my cable that was causing minor flickering. It was my new ATI Radeon 9500 Pro. I tried it on another monitor, same thing. Then tried the card in another computer, same thing (that computer also had a 9500 Pro, without the flickering). I have to get the card replaced... 🙁
