monitor cable problems??

just built my first system it has a PNY GF3 TI500 card and a new 19" KDS VS190P monitor. Both I am very happy with, one annoying issue is that the cable for the monitor will not work if it is plugged in all the way to the graphics card. It has to be 75% pulled out inorder to get a picture once that is done it works fine, just curious if anyone had run into similar problems?
