Guys, it gets even better than this. I was in one of the Office Depot's Saturday in Memphis Tennessee, checking on their latest clearance items. After the store clerk had checked through the list, she said that two items came-up in their inventory system, but that the manager would have to get the items out of lock-up. After searching lock-up and telling me they don't have either item, the manager asks me if I got the list of items (SKUs) from Anandtech! I'm thinking, wtf, how does he know about Anandtech? So after replying, "yeah, I visit the site periodically, but have picked up most the item SKUs while searching at other ODs for the Oregon Scientific items", he replies that someone looking for a clearance item posted here, had the manager log into Anandtech to get the SKU when they couldn't find an SKU in their store-stock! This fvcking idiot didn't take a print-out into the store, he (tried to) show the manager he was right by logging into Anandtech on the store's [OD's] computer. The manager bookmarked this site and is now tracking Office Depot deals posted here, so who ever the stupid fvck is in Memphis, you've screwed everyone including yourself, out of ANY future OD deals!!!! How fvcking stupid can you be???? Have you been to Office Max lately????
When checking for these items I have always went out of my way to ensure that I did NOT "reveal my source", nor burdon the store clerk if the store is busy. If someone gets in line behind me at the service desk, I tell the clerk to take care of the customer first. When OD had the DVDs on 50-percent-off clearance, I asked if I could look through their remaining DVDs since they had no idea what they had left. Since they could not allow me in their lock-up room, a store employee called-out each DVD they had while I stood outside the door and compiled a list. After getting the DVDs I wanted, I then generated an inventory list and gave the assistant manager a copy. They were so thrilled to (finally) have an accurate listing of their DVD inventory, that they now hold anything I call-in and tell me what's on clearance everytime I walk into the store! The manager has let me even sit-down with their print-outs of new clearance items before they've even finished marking-down the actual items. This is how you do it guys - if you want excellent service from your local store, you have to do something more than just being a clearance-leach with no morals.
