Monitor blacking out on me!

Hello,

I am having an issue with my monitor. Here is my setup: I am running a GeForce 5700 256 Mb video card, 2.8 Ghz prescott P4, 2 Gb Ram, 160 Gb HD, Samsung Model 700DF 17" CRT Monitor.

Here is my issue: Every once in a while my screen will "freeze" (no mouse movement, etc.), my monitor shuts off for about 1 or 2 seconds, then comes back on. This happens about once a day. It doesn't seem to matter what program I am using, i.e. Dreamweaver, 3ds Max, Flash, Microsoft Word.

Does anybody have any ideas? This is real frustrating. I have updated my video drivers several times now. I am not sure if it is a video card problem or a monitor problem. My video card has a temp monitor on it and it never gets above 32 C.

I am guessing video card here, but you really need to swap out devices to make sure. Replace your video card. Since this happens at least once a day, if you have no problems for a couple of days then it's your video card. If you are still having problems then hook up another monitor. If you don't have these things then you either need a friend or you now have an excuse for an upgrade. Good luck.
