any ideas how much it costs to repair a monitor? Turns on, and then light goes orange . . .waiting for screen signal i suppose. Could be cord, not sure. Other monitor works fine . . . I haven;t ever tried to get any computer part repaired before, don;t know if its worht it or not 😛

Buy another.

My Dell P991 made a loud POP the other day, it died on me. Fortunately it came with a 3 year warranty, called Dell they sent a replacement for FREE and paid for shipping. Total cost to me $0.00

What size monitor was it?
If you were to buy a new one, what's your budget?

its a 17" HP, and I don't remember if its under warranty still or not, but i would guess not. Obviously, the cheaper the better for a similar replacement, doesn't have to be high quality . . . just color 🙂

Wow, everybody is saying buy a new one. I thought monitor repairs tend to be inexpensive.

I guess it just depends on what "blows".. lol.. If the tube goes, buy another.. if it's just some easily replacable component, it could be worth it.. There's a place around here somewhere that says 75$ monitor repair, flat fee(19"+ more). Shrug.

It also would depend on the monitor. If you have some 19 or 21" flatscreen, and it isn't under warranty anymore.. it may be worth it to see into getting it fixed.

Look on the back of it. When was the date of manufacture?

CRTs degrade over time... if you don't remember how old it is chances are an new monitor like samsung's DF series is going to look really good... on sale at dell for 10% off and free shipping right now.
